IGNOU Master of Arts in Tourism Management (MTM)

About Programme : MTM stands for Master of Arts in Tourism Management. It comes under School of Tourism and Hospitality Services Management (SOTHSM). This programme is designed and helps those students who are interested in pursuing a career in tourism sector at managerial level.

This is for aspiring entrepreneurs or those running their own tourism agencies. It is of 2 Years consists of 4 semesters which have each 4 credits and 8 credits for MTM-16(Dissertation). Below are important features of this programme :

  • Name of Programme : MTM – Master of Arts in Tourism Management
  • Medium : It is available in English medium only
  • Eligibility : To be eligible, the candidates must have :
    Category 1 : BTS, BA(Tourism); B.Sc. Hospitality and Hotel Administration(BHM); Bachelor’s in Hotel Management (approved by AICTE) and those students who have done their graduation in any field along with a Diploma in Tourism, which is recognized in the University system or by AICTE.
    Category 2 : A Bachelor’s Degree in any field. (However, all students of Category 2 will have to pass four additional Tourism foundation courses during their period of study.)
  • Duration : It is offered in both January & July admission cycle. Minimum : 2 Years, Maximum : 5 Years.
  • Fee Structure : For full programme(Category 1), the fees is Rs 9,000/- which is to be paid year wise @Rs 4,500/- per year. For Category 2, Rs 11,000/- for full programme to be paid year wise @Rs.6,500/- for 1st Year & Rs.4,500/- for 2nd Year
