About Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing Programme : This programme is a 3 years degree programme for in-service diploma holder nurses. This degree programme comes under the School of Health Sciences(SOHS). It was approved by the Indian Nursing Council(INC). All applicants can take admission in this programme by appearing in an entrance test which is known as OPENNET-VIII Entrance Exam.

After declaration of entrance result, IGNOU organize one, two or three counselling sessions for seat allotments. All applicants will be called to take admission in B.Sc. Nursing Programme on basis of rank obtained at OPENNET VIII Entrance Exam. The main objective is to increase the demand of high qualified nurses.     • Eligibility Criteria : All Students who wants to take admission in BSCNPB (Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing) course, The In-service Nurses i.e registered nurses and registered midwives (RNRM) having 10+2 with 3 years Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) with minimum of 2 years experience in the profession. (For males nurses who have not done midwifery in the GNM programme should have a certificate in any of the nursing courses of 6-9 month duration prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council in lieu of midwifery)   OR In-service Nurses (RNRM) having 10th class (Matriculation) or its equivalent with three year Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) with minimum of five years experience in the profession.(For male nurses who have not done midwifery in the GNM programme should have a certificate in any of the nursing courses of 6-9 month duration prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council in lieu of midwifery).
    • Duration : The minimum duration is 3 years and maximum time is 5 years from the date of registration to the students to complete the programme.
    • Fee Structure : The total fee is Rs 45000/- which has to be paid @Rs 15,000/- per annum. The fees may change at any time, so always confirm with the concerned regional centre.
    • Age of Admission : There is no maximum age limit

IGNOU BSCN(PB) Admission Procedure 2020 : Interested and Eligible candidates can download the IGNOU OPENNET-VIII Admission Form and BSCN(PB) prospectus by going through official website of IGNOU. Applicants can obtain the prospectus from your nearest Regional Centre by paying small fee of Rs. 1000/-. By Registered Post, prospectus can be ordered by sending fee of Rs.1050/- in the form of DD(Demand Draft) which is to be made in the favour of IGNOU, New Delhi, to Registrar (Student Registration Division), Indira Gandhi National Open University, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi-68. Please write your name and address at the back of Demand Draft. For the addresses of Regional Centre and fee, all students can check the IGNOU official advertisement for admission to BSCN(PB).

BSCN(PB) Course & Syllabus Details : The Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing Programme consists of 108 credits (40 credits in theory and 68 credits in practical). This course has two major components : theory and practicals. It is divided into 22 courses; 11 theory and 11 practical. All the courses are compulsory for the students who want to obtain Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing Degree. One Credit = 30 Study hours or 30 learning hours = one Credit.

1) Theory Courses : 40 Credits (First Year: 18, Second Year: 10, Third Year:12)

2) Practical Courses: 68 Credits (First Year: 18, Second Year: 26, Third Year:24)
