UPSC Notification 2016 of Civil Services (Preliminary) / Indian Forest Service Examination

The UPSC has released a notification on 27th April 2016 for Indian Forest Service (IFS) examination and Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2016. The UPSC has invited eligible applicants to apply online for examination by going through the official website. The official website of UPSC is upsconline.nic.in. The last date for submission of application is 27th May 2016. Firstly, Union Public Service Commission will conduct Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination and then Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination. The date of civil service preliminary exam is 7th August 2016 and IFS main examination will be conducted in month of December 2016.

Every year, UPSC conducted the civil exams in three parts. 1) preliminary 2) main 3) interview. These exams are conducted to select applicants for high grade Indian administrative jobs such as IAS (Indian Administrative Service), IFS (Indian Foreign Service) and IPS (Indian Police Service) and many others. As per notification, applicants who wants to be appear for UPSC IFS Examination 2016, firstly needs to be appear in civil services preliminary examination 2016. After qualifying this exam, applicants can write for main examination and then interview will be scheduled later.

There will be large no. of applicants who will apply for these exams. Out of these, few applicants wants to apply online for both above mentioned exams, need to apply by going through a common online application form as per their required eligibility criteria.

Eligibility Criteria : To be appear for exams, eligible applicants must be either : a) a citizen of India, or b) a subject of Nepal, or c) a subject of Bhutan, or d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1stJan, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Srilanka, East African countries of Kenya, the United Republic of Tanzania,Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. Provided that an applicant belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) shall be an individual in whose favor a official document of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.  A candidate in  whose  case a certificate of eligibility is necessary, may be admitted to the examination but the offer  of appointment may be given  only after the  necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him/her by the Government of India.

Age Limit : To be eligible, a candidate must have minimum age of 21 years and maximum up to 32 years as on 1st August, 2016.

Educational Qualification : the applicants should have Bachelor’s degree with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics,  Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification.

Application Form Fees : Applicants whom comes under general category need to pay application form fee of Rs 100/- either via deposit cash at any branch of SBI or can pay via netbanking of any SBI Bank such as State Bank of Hyderabad, State Bank of Mysore etc or can use ewallet method Visa / Master Credit / Debit card etc. There are no application form fees for Female / SC / ST / PH candidates.

Plan for Examination : The UPSC Indian Forest Service Examination 2016 have 2 successive stages :

  • 1) Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination : It is of objective type exams for selecting candidates for IFS – Indian Forest Service (Main) examination.
  • 2) Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination : It is of written theoretical exam and then interview will be held by UPSC for selecting candidates for post of Indian Forest Service.

How to Apply Online for Civil Services (Preliminary) and IFS Examination 2016 ? Applicants whose are eagerly waiting for Civil Services (Preliminary) and Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination 2016, need to apply online by going through the website link www.upsconline.nic.in. The Civil Services exam will work as a screening for UPSC IFS main examination. Applicants who have qualified Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination, needs to go through detailed interview which will be held by UPSC. The further information regarding interview schedule will also be available at www.upsc.gov.in.

Admit Card Download : All eligible applicants will receive an admit card / e-Admission Certificate 3 weeks before the start of examination. Admit Card will be available in the UPSC website (upsc.gov.in) for downloading admit card of Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination and Indian Forest Service Examination, 2016. As per UPSC rule, No Admission Certificate will be sent by post.
